The Unique Heavy Equipment Adventure
Looking for fun things to do in Williams, AZ? Always wanted to run huge machines like the ones you see on construction sites? Now, it is possible! We offer you a unique heavy equipment adventure. At Big Toy Playground, individuals, groups, and parties have the opportunity of controlling 40,000 lbs of steel. If you are aged 14 or over, we invite you to live out the dream of operating an excavator, backhoe or skid steer. Digging giant holes, moving mountains of dirt, maneuvering through an obstacle course, stacking towers of enormous tires, and playing backhoe basketball are but a few of the exciting activities we offer.
The standard sessions at our heavy equipment playground are 90 minutes in length, with at least 60 minutes operating the equipment. When booking an Extreme or Maximum Playtime session, you will still have at least 60 minutes for each piece of equipment, as well as a short break between operating the different types of machines. Lunch is included in the Maximum Playtime session.
What happens during the sessions?
We start off with orientation, which takes place in our office. We will have you complete some paperwork, we will tell you a little about our company, and give you some safety information. You will put on a safety vest and a hard hat – the hat is optional but will make you look better in pictures! Also, you will meet your friendly instructor. When you seat behind the controls of the machine you’ll be operating, your instructor will show you how to use all the levers and knobs, and he will provide you with additional safety information.
After you get comfortable enough, the excavator, skid steer, or backhoe adventure will begin.
The different machines offer different sets of activities, but you have to start with the basics. This usually involves digging and moving dirt. This is surprisingly satisfying and will put a smile on your face. Next, new challenges will follow. With the help of your instructor, who will be watching you and giving you tips over the radio, you will be able to face them all.
Your family and friends are welcome to watch and take pictures. A seating and viewing area is available, which is close enough to allow taking easy snapshots and videos of the event. After the session is over, the spectators can come into the Playground and take pictures next to the equipment or ask the instructors to take the pictures for them.
- Only one person is allowed in the cab at a time. Your child cannot sit in your lap while you are operating the equipment. This is for your safety.
- Each session is for one person and one machine. Some packages do include several sessions, so it is still possible to run multiple machines in one day.
- We offer group options. Give us a call to discuss which one will work for you
